DOCTORS \u2013 NOT CALL CENTRES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Starting from April a new system for emergency appointments with a GP across NW London will be rolled out.<\/p>\n

This new system is being imposed by NW London health bosses on ALL GP practices<\/strong> in our area. You will contact a \u2018hub\u2019 where a \u2018care coordinator\u2019 will do the triage \u2013 not a GP!<\/p>\n

Only patients with \u2018complex long-term conditions<\/strong>\u2019 are likely to be be looked after by their own GP practice.The Londonwide GP body (the LMC) is deeply concerned by these changes:<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 This is not safe for patients<\/strong>. The person doing triage will probably not be a doctor but somebody with much lower qualifications \u2013 and cheaper!<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 GPs are trained in diagnostics; care coordinators are not.<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 Continuity of care may be lost<\/strong> \u2013 the hub may not be in your own practice<\/p>\n

\uf0b7 GPs have had little or no say in this change; residents have still not been told!<\/p>\n

We call on NW London ICB to withdraw this unsafe, untested and imposed new system and to work with GPs <\/strong>and residents to improve services.<\/strong><\/p>\n
