\"Page1\"<\/a>Health bosses have already closed the much loved\u00a0and needed Maternity Unit in Ealing Hospital. They\u00a0want to close the Paediatrics Ward next summer \u2013\u00a0a disaster for sick children in our area. This is all\u00a0part of the horrendous plans for North West London\u00a0called (believe it or not) Shaping a Healthier Future.<\/p>\n

They have already closed Accident and Emergency\u00a0Departments at Central Middlesex and\u00a0Hammersmith Hospitals and next to be axed is the\u00a0blue light A&E at Ealing Hospital. The final aim is\u00a0to cut 300 beds in Ealing, and sell most of the site
\nfor flats. Charing Cross Hospital is to get the same\u00a0treatment. When questioned, local health bosses\u00a0claim all these services will be replaced by as yet\u00a0undisclosed facilities \u2018in the community\u2019.<\/p>\n

Support Our Doctors and Health Staff<\/h2>\n

\u201cJunior doctors\u201d (i.e. hospital doctors) were forced to vote for strike action to\u00a0stop the Government increasing their hours and cutting pay. The Royal\u00a0College of Nurses may be forced to take strike action for the first time in\u00a0their history. Meanwhile GPs get constant increases in their workload as\u00a0other health services are cutback.<\/p>\n

NHS staff are working under tremendous pressure, only to be rewarded with\u00a0pay freezes, staff shortages, re-organisations and cuts.<\/p>\n

A Winter Crisis is Coming\u2026<\/h2>\n

\"Leaflet<\/a>Here in North West London expensive\u00a0Management consultants have been\u00a0paid \u00a333 million pounds for advice on
\ncutting and restructuring local services. \u00a0That money has come from our health\u00a0budgets.
\nThe NHS deficit is approaching \u00a32\u00a0billion pounds after a 5 year freeze on\u00a0NHS spending and paying management\u00a0consultants. Private companies and\u00a0agency staff makes it worse, not better.<\/p>\n

The NHS is already at full capacity and \u00a0the winter season will push it into crisis.<\/p>\n

What should the Government do? If\u00a0you\u2019re in a hole stop digging! That\u00a0means stop cutting and privatising now!<\/p>\n

In West London and across the country health services are being put on the\u00a0market. Private companies can pick which services to run and profit from –\u00a0usually by cutting costs. They even get to keep the NHS logo. Last year over\u00a0\u00a33.5 billion pounds worth of NHS services was awarded to these privateers,\u00a0undermining the whole idea of a single united NHS with low overheads.<\/p>\n

To make it worse, the Government is now giving entire chunks of the NHS to\u00a0local councils, breaking it up into areas so that underfunded Councils get the\u00a0blame for cuts rather than the Government. [\/color-box]<\/p>\n
