Ealing Hospital which offers antenatal care. and \u00a0the private company <\/span>Window to the Womb Ealing<\/span><\/i>, which claims to be \u2018Specialists in Well-being, Gender & 4D Baby Scans\u2019 <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>It is hardly surprising that with \u00a0the closure of the Maternity Unit at Ealing \u00a0Hospital the private company, <\/span>Window to Womb,<\/span><\/i> has moved into Ealing and is leafleting the area offering \u00a0ante natal scans. They offer a dazzling number of scans for women throughout their pregnancy \u2013 costs for a scan start at \u00a355.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the scans on offer is for gender. \u00a0Their website trumpets that\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We offer\u00a0our\u00a0 99.9% accurate\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Well-Being & Gender Scan<\/span>\u00a0from 16-22 weeks<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>for just \u00a359, you can visit us a full 4 weeks before the\u00a0<\/span>NHS scans<\/span>\u00a0<\/b>for gender.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Screening specifically for gender is controversial and many NHS hospitals do not offer it unless it is for genetic abnormalities that only one sex inherits. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Window To The Womb<\/span><\/i> \u00a0Ealing<\/span><\/i> website does not tell expectant women \u00a0who are enticed to use their services what happens if a scan reveals possible problems or abnormalities. \u00a0On inquiring about this possibility expectant mothers are told they will be quickly referred to \u2018a doctor\u2019.
